Antique Victorian English Tiger Oak Book Form Lap Desk/Stationery Box w/Inkwell

Handsome antique hand carved book form stationery box made of English Tiger Oak wood circa 1880's. Came from the estate of a local Tennessee lawyer that collected English lap desks and boxes throughout his lifetime. This features a brass shield shaped medallion on the top and a key for the working brass lock. Brass hinges for the lid in good condition. The interior has a removable segmented tray with storage underneath, a small compartment with a knobbed lid, and a glass inkwell with a metal lid. There is a crack on the bottom that appears to be part of the original manufacture of the piece as it appears very old and there is no gapping. Box measures 10.75" x 7.5" x 3".
