The bowl has a wavy rim which is turned inwards. Designed by Tyra Lundgren in 1938, manufactured by Venini, Venice. Round acid etched mark 'venini italy murano' on the base. A rare example of Lundgren's iconic designs for Venini. Model no. 2685. This model was exhibited at the 26th Venice Bienale in 1952. Tyra Lundgren (1897 - 1979) was a Swedish painter, ceramist, glass and textile designer. In 1936, she met the glassmaker Paolo Venini at the Triennale di Milano. He invited her to Murano and she became the first woman to design glass for Venini. Her bird, fish and snake sculptures belong to the most seeked Venini glasses. In 1938 and 1948 her designs for Venini were exhibited at the Venice Biennale. Lundgren also worked as glassware designer at Moser, Karlsbad, Riihimäki, Finnland and Kosta, Sweden.
