Each bowl features a white interior adorned with a hand painted floral bouquet, with a rich purple border accented with lavish raised gilding, the raised effect coming from both the gold enamel and the molded porcelain beneath it. This pair of bowls is not signed on the reverse, however they were acquired from the same estate and are identical in design to a set of dinner plates from that estate which are signed on the reverse with the mark of Andre Cie, Passage Violet No. 3, Paris. These bowls are therefore undoubtedly the product of that same maker. The bowls measure 9 1/4 inches square, with sides rising 1 1/2 inches in height. Condition is excellent overall, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. As with the other pieces in this set, there is light wear where the foot rim of one piece rests against the surface of another, along with some scattered loss to the gold and purple in those same areas.
