Description
An original oil on paper by Kamran Khavarani (Iranian-American, b. 1941), the architect and painter credited by UCLA art historian Albert Boime as the founder of "Abstract Romanticism." Trained in the classical tradition and later transformed by the mystical poetry of the thirteenth-century Persian poet Rumi, Khavarani developed a lyrical idiom of sweeping, luminous color. His work has been recognized by the Library of Congress and noted in the Congressional Record. Titled "Abstract Series," this original painting is a luminous, impressionistic vision of a water-lily pond, gestural strokes of sage, emerald, and viridian green drifting across a pale, watery ground, punctuated by deep violet and charcoal accents suggesting blossoms and reeds at the water's edge. The loose, spontaneous brushwork and atmospheric palette recall Monet's late water-lily studies while remaining wholly Khavarani's own, dissolving the scene into pure light and movement. Signed and dated "K. Khavarani 2000" at the lower right. The work is an original oil on paper, mounted on acid-free foamboard (image approximately 20 x 25", sheet 28 x 22"), presently unframed. It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist, confirming it as a unique, original, hand-signed work and reserving reproduction rights. A rare opportunity to acquire a one-of-a-kind original painting by a recognized contemporary artist, fully documented and signed well suited to a serious collector or a distinguished contemporary interior. 28 x 22"
