Description
$6,940. A burgundy field is worked in a minutely repeated herati lattice, centred on a small ivory and powder blue hexagonal medallion, with layered navy and burgundy borders adding depth at the margins. The Bidjar construction is the densest in classical carpet weaving: the warps are held under extreme tension and each row of weft driven home with a heavy metal comb, producing a fabric so compact that a true Bidjar traditionally could not be folded without risk of cracking. That construction is precisely why carpets built this way survive generations of heavy traffic where lighter weaves flatten and wear through. At nearly twelve by eighteen feet this is the largest carpet in the sale, and it carries its scale with authority. Design pattern: Allover herati with hexagonal medallion, Bidjar. Size: 11'11" x 18'3". Gallery Collection.
