The painting appears to be in very good condition and presents well. There is a 1/4 inch scratch at the left center, a pin dot of possible loss in the cowboy's hair, a 1/8 inch scratch at the dead horse's back, and a 3/8 inch scratch in the grass at the lower right. The painting was viewed under blacklight and does not show any indication of inpainting. The frame appears to be in good condition with miter splits.
