The portrait photo collage was first published in 1974 in André Heller's songbook "Sie nennen mich den Messerwerfer". Early on in her artistic career, Ingeborg G. Pluhar broke free from figurative conventions, questioning interchangeable fashion trends, commentary and advertising by stripping such contemporary documents – both images and texts – of their original meaning and recombining them to create new significance and aesthetics. Her work surprises with its multifaceted reflections on mass culture. The sources of inspiration for her series of works are always her immediate surroundings and everyday life.

Bereits früh in ihrer Karriere als schaffende Künstlerin emanzipiert sich Ingeborg G. Pluhar vom figuralen Diktat, hinterfragt austauschbare Modeströmungen, Kommentare und Werbeangebote, indem sie solcherart Zeitzeugen – Bilder wie Texte – entleert und zu neuer Bedeutung und Ästhetik verknüpft.
