Our photo auctions, which have taken place in spring and autumn of each year since 2009, have quickly assumed a central role on the auction market in the German-speaking world. Our hammer has come down on vintage prints from the 19th century, iconic images from the 20th century, and contemporary photographs alike. Big personalities in front of and behind the camera as well as significant moments in recent history have made their impression on our auction block. Our photo auctions' broad spectrum shows that photography has shaped people's image of the world like no other medium in the past 150 years. Our auction also includes a carefully curated selection of photobooks.

OstLicht Camera Auction Autumn 2025
In 1991, we opened the world's very first Leica Shop, marking a new chapter in the history of the camera. With the founding of WestLicht Auctions in 2001, we established an auction house that I directed through 34 successful sales. Under my personal leadership (2001-2018), WestLicht Camera Auctions set new benchmarks and left a lasting imprint on the international camera auction market. After the sale of this institution, we opened a new and exciting chapter in 2023: with OstLicht Camera Auctions, we continue this legacy with the same passion and expertise. Today, we are once again delighted to present an extraordinary highlight: This time, the focus is on an outstanding Leica collection, assembled mainly in the 1990s through my Leica Shop. The collector placed the highest importance on originality and condition-resulting in a selection of cameras, lenses, accessories, and literature from Leitz, many preserved in mint condition. Particularly noteworthy is the large number of rare accessories that will enrich any Leica collection. Bringing together such a comprehensive assembly today would require great effort and many years of searching. In addition, we will present a wide range of the rarest and most significant objects from various manufacturers and eras - offering a panorama of camera history in all its diversity. On the same day, our traditional OstLicht Photo Auction will take place. With around 250 lots, it provides an impressive survey of the history of photographic art since 1850. We warmly invite you to join us on November 21 in Vienna - either in person or conveniently online and by telephone.

lack of explanation
Condition A-Although I bought it because of Condition A, RAPIDO winder is not working properly. After several weeks of no response to my inquiries, the only response I received was that the winder wire tends to stretch easily. If it had been damaged in an accident during transportation, I would have wanted to use my insurance, They would not even tell me if the item was in normal operation when it was auctioned. The attached lens also had a hard helicoid and would not focus. I don't even know what the A-rating is for. Other lenses, such as the Thambar, also had a hard aperture ring, and I asked a repairman, but he said that the ring was distorted due to some kind of shock. The product was carefully packaged, but I was surprised that they suddenly charged me 400Euro for additional packaging because of the high price of the product. Overall, lack of explanation, so be careful.
