Chromogenic print on Kodak paper, signed and annotated "Eine kleine Zwischenmahlzeit für Reinhard" ("A little snack for Reinhard") in the lower part of the image, in very good condition. Framed in a white wooden frame between double glazing, 55 x 65 cm. Stamp "Franz West, Platonic Moon, 2003 / Produced for Whitechapel Art Gallery on the occasion of the Franz West exhibition, 9 September – 9 November 2003" and handwritten artist's proof notation "20/20" on the reverse.
This copy is particularly rare within the limited edition due to the personal dedication to the famous Austrian chef Reinhard Gerer. The work illustrates Franz West's characteristic approach to high-gloss images, which he places in a new context through playful alienation, humour and visual distortion. The combination of absurdity and expressive visual language is typical of the Viennese conceptual artist's later work.
