Description
This mid-century modern table features a striking circular design crafted from bamboo and terra cotta tiles. The tabletop is adorned with a concentric pattern of terra cotta tiles in varying shades of red, orange, and grey, creating a warm and earthy aesthetic. Several tiles within the inner rings are embossed with delicate leaf motifs, adding a subtle botanical detail. The table's edge is meticulously finished with a border of split bamboo reeds, complementing the sturdy bamboo frame and legs. The design suggests a blend of natural materials with functional artistry, typical of the era's relaxed yet sophisticated style. A partially legible maker's mark, "CAPRON VALLAURIS," is visible on one of the tiles, indicating a potential origin from the renowned pottery region of Vallauris, France.Round Dining Table by Roger Capron (1922-2006) French Rattan and glazed ceramic Signed 'CAPRON' on a tileModel created c.1950/ 1960 Manufactured by Vallauris, France.DIMENSIONS: Height 28.25 inch / 71,5 cm Diameter Top: 37 inch / 94 cm Shipping: Basel Auction House will refer local third-party USA and international shippers. Condition
The table is in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use consistent with its mid-century origin. The bamboo frame shows some minor scuffs and variations in color, as expected from natural materials. The terra cotta tiles exhibit some surface wear, minor chipping along edges, and discoloration. The grout lines show some age-related darkening and minor cracking in places. There is a partially legible maker's mark on one tile. No significant structural damage or major repairs are evident.
