A Japanese silver-plated base metal footed cigarette box from the Occupation period. The rectangular lid features a high-relief molded scene of the Yomeimon Gate at the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, showing detailed architectural elements and surrounding trees. The word Nikko is inscribed in cursive in the lower right corner of the relief scene. The body of the box is designed with vertical fluted panels on all four sides and stands on four stylized scroll-form feet. The interior of the box features a smooth finish on the walls and a hammered pebble texture on the floor. The underside of the base bears a raised rectangular stamp reading MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN. To the left of this stamp is a small diamond-shaped mark; however, the characters within the diamond are not clearly legible as a maker name. A vintage square paper label is adhered to the base with handwritten blue ink reading Occupied JAPAN Cig box. No measurements are provided as no scale is present in the photographs.
