Hungarian-born Darai was a set designer for the Hungarian National Theater and Opera before settling in Laguna Beach, California, where he served as a judge and guest artist and demonstrator at events at the San Clemente Arts and Crafts Club, the Niguel Art Association and the San Juan Capistrano Art Association. His work was regularly exhibited at the Laguna Festival of the Arts.

Darai received his art education in Budapest and Munich.
