Ed Shewmake was a North Carolina based artist who taught at Salem College for over 30 years. Graduate of Davidson College, where he drew cartoons for the student humor magazine. Also studied at The Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC and The Art Students League in Woodstock, NY. Received an MA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Work includes paintings, prints, and sculpture and is held in the collections of the Van Every/Smith Galleries and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
