French vintage 20th century charcoal and chalk sketch/study of a statuesque woman in loose-fitting dress (like a dressing gown); out of context she could easily be mistaken for a figure from Greco-Roman antiquity. Beautiful in its simplicity and monochromatic palette, the work highlights the gathering of fabric in her voluminous gown, the waves of her hair, and the dancer's grace suggest her outstretched arms. An understated giltwood frame draws the viewer in for a closer look, however there is some loss to the molding at the upper left corner.
