19th Century Swiss Mechanical Clock Painting circa 1820

This antique and unique clock painting is created in oil on metal circa 1820 in Switzerland. This clock painting is an exceptional example of the genre. The painting depicts a lake in a mountainous landscape. In the foreground, to the left stands a stone church with a mechanical clock built into the tower. The charming painting is composed in the romantic style with sailboats and people strolling on a sunny day. The work of art is executed in excellent detail and use of color. The original clock is replaced with a later battery movement. The mechanism is untested and not working at this time.
