Dark and brooding oil painting applied with a heavy impasto relief technique titled "Outburst." Framed in aluminum and walnut. Signed and titled in verso.

Most likely an early abstract work by Gerald Hardy (American b.1938) who graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1960. He went on to more structured work.
His one-person exhibitions include Interchurch Center Gallery in New York City, University of Chicago, and galleries in the Midwest, California, New England, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. His work is in collections of the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Mint Museum in Charlotte, Ford Motor Company, and in more than 2000 private collections.
