This artwork depicts a Chicago Jazz Musicians Club Scene. The back is dated 1973. It is untiltled. This is an oil painting on board by noted American artist William (Bill) Olendorf , 1924-1996. It is signed in the lower right corner by the artist.
William (Bill) Olendorf was a lifelong Chicago resident and world recognized artist who was born in 1924 in Deerfield, Illinois. He sketched and painted Chicago, the cities of Europe, and still life. He is known for his brightly colored paintings. He started painting in high school and continued on during his years at Harvard and Washington & Lee University. He had numerous exhibitions and commissions in the United States and abroad. His paintings are in the private collections of former Presidents Bush, Reagan, Nixon, Ford and Clinton as well as in the collections of Henry Kissinger, Anwar Sadat, Fidel Castro, Jack Lynch and president Mubarak of Egypt. Among the corporate collections that contain his work are Amoco, J. Walter Thompson, American Airlines, the Matif, Tiffany & Company, and Bloomingdales.
