The writer left her home and studio for the last time during a wildfire, amid a fiery red sunset. Subsequently she moved to a new house with a lovely garden, which she loves even more. Departure Time was one of the first paintings she did after the fire. This acrylic painting is on gallery wrapped canvas. The texture was achieved by adding an acrylic gel that has actual tiny glass beads in it to the paint. It is signed on the front, and has a UV protective varnish. It is in a black wood floater frame with a narrow gold front edge, which is wired and ready to hang.

Laurie MacMillan has enjoyed numerous awards and five solo exhibitions, and has had pieces selected for over a hundred juried group shows. Her work is held in personal and business collections across the U.S. and in Britain. She is currently represented by 10 West Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
