A watercolor painting by the American artist George Coggeshall (191401994). This abstract work features a red background punctuated with a row of figure-like shapes in blue, purple, yellow, and green. Unsigned, the painting is estate stamped to the verso of the paper and is displayed in a gold tone frame and a pale gray mat.

Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.
