Description
Offered is a Danish staved and lathed Teak wood ice bucket, originally designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk in 1957. The model is number 810, stamped on the bottom, and features the signature ducks on the logo and coveted hot orange interior lining bucket which identifies it from their earliest collection. It is sometimes referred to as the "Congo" bucket as well as the "Viking" bucket, in honor of the elevated sides which resemble a Norse helmet. This one was made between 1957 and 1961.
Measures 15.25" tall, 7.25" diameter, 4.75" base diameter, stamped "Denmark JHQ"
Distinguished for its elegant Scandinavian design and expert craftsmanship, this ice bucket is included in the The Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition "A Century of Design, Part III: 1950-1975," presented November 28, 2000 - May 27, 2001.
