Description
Antique English large white ironstone "K" bowl. Circa mid-to-late 19th century. This is an excellent example of a Victorian-era, general purpose white kitchenware bowl, that was produced at a time when white pottery was associated with food hygiene, and at least gave the allusion, that its use in the kitchen was the most hygienic way to prepare and store foods. The "K" stands for "kitchen" and thus the bowl belonged in the kitchen only. The letter "K" is transfer-printed underglaze in black. The bowl is large and heavy, and comes in superb, clean and useable condition.
