Description
Whether you like Southwestern style or just appreciate handsome pieces with graceful curves and lots of character, you'll love this sturdy, wrought iron fireplace log holder in turquoise "verdigris." Bought by my sister in Santa Fe, New Mexico, many years ago, it has a generous depth of 18 inches (front to back) and an ample height (22 inches in front, 27 inches in back) -- i.e., plenty of space in which to stack enough logs to warm your hearth several nights in a row. And when summer comes? It will do "double duty" as a magazine rack and look just as good.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Verdigris, the natural turquoise patina that normally forms on copper, bronze, or brass, isn't always a solid coating. It often has a mottled look because the metal underneath shows through.
The turquoise color on this firewood log holder isn't a true verdigris (the piece is made of iron, not copper, bronze, or brass) and was probably painted on. But while the paint may have thinned in places due to age, the mottled "verdigris" look it was originally designed to have remains intact.
