What could be better for equestrian decor than a lovely vintage equestrian saddle.

This Barrington saddle was handmade for the Barrington Saddle Company in Canada by the saddler masters in Walsall England. Walsall is known as the saddle making capitol of the world.
It is quite a rare piece of saddlery. The stitching is excellent quality. It is original, unaltered condition.

It is a "saddle" brown color with brown suede knee pads. The leather has a lovely patina. From its design and position of the nail heads, I believe this saddle to have been made in the mid 1960's to the early 1970's.
(Mid century modern era).

This saddle is covered with soft durable top grade cow leather and the seat is covered in pigskin. The saddle tree is the flexible skeleton of the saddle. This handmade tree can be made with woods such as Maple, Baltic Birch, Aspen or pine The wood is then molded to a flexible lightweight steel frame.

The billets of this saddle, that are the straps to attach a girth, are known as chrome leather. Chrome-tanned leather is a soft, yet strong fabric made from chromium sulphate-treated animal skins. It is softer than vegetable-tanned leather and is the only leather to retain its color and strength for most of its lifespan.

This saddles reflects the investment in quality materials, skilled labor, and the unique design and craftsmanship that went into creating it.
