Antique Apache Polychrome Basket

Description

Offered here for your consideration is an antique Apache polychrome basket which features a dark circular center with a sunburst pattern. This is surrounded by an inner stepped rings in brown and reds. The outer design is a continuous zigzag along the bowls edge using red and brown colors. This bowl is finished with flared sides and stitched rim. *NOTE: The rim has minor damage. Please see pictures for details. The Apache people were known as superior basket makers after learning new techniques from the Yavapai during the late 1800s, which they quickly adopted and adapted. Apache baskets are striking with strong contrast in color and bold geometric or pictorial (less common) motifs. They are on a three rod foundation with wraps of willow and Devil's Claw (for contrast). These baskets are highly sought after and getting harder to find. Consider this one for your collection now!

SIZE: This basket measures 13 1/2 inches across x 3 7/8 inches deep.
CONDITION: Good for its age with wear, minor damage, and fading expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
