Colonel Bill Harris was a United States Army Air Forces fighter pilot and World War II flying ace. Serving with the 339th Fighter Squadron, he flew combat missions in the European Theater and was credited with aerial victories against enemy aircraft. Harris continued his military career after World War II, commanding fighter units and serving in both the U.S. Army Air Forces and the United States Air Force following its establishment as an independent service.
