The cachet depicts the Apollo 8 crew of Frank Borman, James A. Lovell Jr., and William A. Anders. Borman has signed the cover prominently in black ink.

Frank Borman (1928–2023) commanded Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to leave Earth orbit and the first to orbit the Moon in December 1968. Alongside James Lovell and William Anders, Borman led one of the most significant missions in space exploration, including the crew's famous Christmas Eve broadcast and the first human observations of the lunar far side. A former U.S. Air Force officer and Gemini astronaut, he later served as chief executive of Eastern Air Lines and remained one of the most influential figures of the Apollo era.
