Levi Woodbury (1789-1851) was an American jurist and statesman who served as the 9th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1846 until his death in 1851. Earlier in his distinguished career, he served as Governor of New Hampshire, U.S. Senator, Secretary of the Navy under Andrew Jackson, and Secretary of the Treasury under both Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. Woodbury was the first Supreme Court Justice to have previously served as Secretary of the Treasury.
