'La Chaise de Posse' hand colored etching by Victor-Jean Adam (French, 1801-1866). Original date is 1850, made in France. Signed by artist in the lower right corner along side copyright SZL. Sidney Z. Lucas was an art entrepreneur responsible for a large number of prints. He also formed the Paris Etching Society, where he traveled to Europe and commissioned original prints by primarily French and Flemish artists. These were all original, hand colored aquatints or etchings and are usually signed by the artist. Runs for the prints were supposedly between 350-500. These prints can be identified either by a "Paris Etching Society" imprint or the initials "SZL" inside a triangle or circle.
