Description

This spectacular vintage set consists of two large Chinese Imperial Ancestor Portraits on Silk, beautifully framed and displayed as a ceremonial pair from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The first portrait depicts an Emperor seated on a dragon throne, wearing the distinctive Imperial Yellow Dragon Robe and a red official hat, symbolizing ultimate authority. His companion portrait features an Empress in a detailed blue ceremonial court robe and an elaborate Phoenix Crown. Both figures are rendered in the strictly frontal, meticulous style of Imperial court art, complete with symbolic dragon and phoenix motifs and elaborate accessories.
