Description
A striking large-scale Mid Century Modern art pottery vase by Royal Haeger of Dundee, Illinois, circa 1970s.
This sculptural bottle-form example features a dramatic high-gloss black glaze overlaid with flowing agate-like marbling and mineral veining. The kiln-reactive glaze creates a one-of-a-kind surface with organic movement, giving the piece a look reminiscent of polished stone, ink wash, or natural marble. Subtle iridescence appears along the lower body where minerals separated during firing.
The elegant narrow neck and wide rounded shoulder create a strong architectural silhouette, allowing the vase to function equally well as a decorative object or statement floor vessel. This type of form was widely used by interior designers and decorators in Hollywood Regency and modern interiors and remains highly sought after today for Organic Modern and Neo-Deco spaces.
Marked "Haeger 136" on the underside.
Beautiful displayed alone on a console, pedestal, or credenza. Particularly effective in minimal interiors where the sculptural form and surface movement can be appreciated.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Very good vintage condition. No cracks or repairs observed. Minor manufacturing irregularities and small glaze pops to the base edge consistent with original kiln firing and typical of vintage Haeger pottery. Presents beautifully.
