It features a straight mouth, short neck, full rounded shoulders, bulging belly tapering toward the base, and an unglazed sand?finished foot. A six?character apocryphal mark “Da Ming Xuan De Nian Zhi” is painted in underglaze blue on the shoulder.The neck is decorated with scrolling foliage. Upper?shoulder and lower?body zones are framed by upward? and downward?pointing lotus?petal borders with bead?inlay details. The main belly surface is fully painted with interlocking floral scrolls, featuring peonies, lotuses and chrysanthemums interwoven by winding vines in a dense, well?composed arrangement. The cobalt blue displays black?brown speckles, natural iron precipitates generated during firing. The painting idiom draws on Yongle?Xuande imperial decorative prototypes, rendered in free, forceful brushwork.Glaze and body: The glaze is bluish?tinged white with natural accumulated patina of age. The foot exhibits vigorous trimming technique; exposed base paste is grey?white with somewhat coarse texture, and the foot edge bears old dust and soil encrustation, consistent with Late?Ming folk?ware large?form characteristics. Modelled after Xuande imperial porcelain shapes and motifs, this is a late?Ming archaistic work. Well?proportioned and fully decorated, it holds display and collecting merit.
