Afshar Sofreh Mixed-Weave Textile

Description

Vintage Afshar Sofreh (or Eating Cloth)/Sandali Carpet made with Mixed-Weave Techniques during the first half of the 20th Century. Chevron Design and Vibrant Color Combination.

This piece had two functions in a tribal setting. It was utilized as a centerpiece of a table to served food or placed on top of a heating setting to decorate the setting.

This beautiful example is woven with a mixture of plain flat weave, and some soumak weave.

It is in good condition with very slight wear.
* Suitable for domestic floor use or as a great throw, table top or wall hanging.
