Summary:
Chinese Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) archaic-style carved jade vase and cover, later mounted as a lamp. The vessel is carved in the manner of an ancient Chinese ritual bronze, with archaistic relief decoration, stylized zoomorphic handles, and a fitted cover surmounted by a carved finial. The jade displays mottled green coloration with darker inclusions and natural variations.

The vase rests on a carved wooden stand above an ornate gilt-metal base. Although subsequently adapted for use as a lamp, the jade vessel itself has not been drilled, preserving the integrity of the jade.

Measurement: 33 x 7 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. (83.8 x 18.4 x 14 cm.) approx
