Summary:
Chinese Cultural Revolution-era mechanical mantel clock housed in a shaped dark-stained wooden case with gilt-tone metal trim. The square purple dial features Arabic numerals surrounding a printed propaganda scene of revolutionary youths holding aloft red books and banners.

The flanking panels are decorated with portraits of Chairman Mao Zedong and Chinese quotations. The left panel bears the slogan commonly translated as: ‘Be resolute, fear no sacrifice, surmount every difficulty, and strive for victory.’ The right panel reads: ‘The working class must exercise leadership in everything.’
