BEATTY DAVID: (1871-1936) British Admiral of World War I who commanded the Battle Cruiser Fleet at the Battle of Jutland (1916). A good vintage signed 7.5 x 5.5 photograph of Beatty in a full-length pose, wearing his standard Royal Navy Service Dress uniform, although with a custom six-button reefer jacket, as he marches on foot through London, leading the sailors, Royal Marines, and members of the Women's Royal Naval Service at the Peace Day Parade on 19th July 1919. Signed (?Beatty?) in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area at the base of the image. Neatly laid down to an oblong folio page removed from an album and with an ink annotation in the hand of a collector to the lower border of the mount. VG

At the Peace Day Parade Beatty and his naval contingent, recognised as the ?Senior Service? in the British Armed Forces, marched at the absolute front of the British forces, trailing directly behind the international Allied commanders Marshal Foch and General Pershing.
