This rare Karl Martz (1912-1997) art pottery vase is signed and dated 1941. Martz was an American studio potter, ceramic artist and teacher whose work achieved national and international recognition. Among his many achievements Martz founded the Ceramic Arts Program in the Department of Fine Arts at Indiana University (Bloomingdale) in 1945.
