Mid 18th Century Campaign Writing Box

Description

A fine 19th-century campaign writing box, designed for portability and utility during travel. Constructed from rich, solid mahogany with inset brass corners and flush-mounted brass carrying handles, this writing slope exemplifies the refined practicality favored by British officers during the colonial era. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fitted interior with a green baize writing surface (original or later replaced, as applicable), compartments for inkwells and writing implements, and a lidded storage section beneath the slope.
