Description
The concept of reversal becomes both literal and philosophical in this companion piece. Where that piece used iron oxide lines to define flowing forms, this one employs mishima inlay-dark clay pressed into carved lines that create permanent boundaries in the ceramic surface.
Fourteen holes arranged in two tiers accommodate tulip stems with the same hand-finished irregularity, but the visual effect transforms completely. The Mishima lines create delicate drawings that seem to grow from within the clay body itself.
