Description
This large 19th century French trumeau mirror is quite elegant, pared down to minimal decorative carvings that suggest a Louis XVI influence. A gilded crest in the center of the frieze depicts a torch and quiver of arrows in striking contrast to the weathered, powder blue paint on the wood frame. The original mercury mirror glass shimmers with a layer of crystals all over the mirror and some light foxing. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. The large scale could be advantageous when hung as a full-length mirror, as well as over a buffet or fireplace mantel, becoming part of the architecture as it originally was.
