A set of five miniature traditional musical instruments crafted from wood with fine thread or wire strings and small pegs. The collection includes a pear-shaped lute with incised scrollwork, a square-bodied instrument with a long neck, a round-bodied moon lute, a vertical spike fiddle with an accompanying bow, and a rectangular zither featuring a curved soundboard and movable bridges. Each instrument is detailed with decorative scrollwork and incised patterns. The set is housed in a rectangular presentation case covered in a gold and blue patterned fabric, featuring a blue velvet-lined interior and red ribbon fasteners. There are no maker marks, signatures, or labels visible on the instruments or the presentation case. The presentation case measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide (photo 5). The zither measures approximately 6 inches long (photo 5).
