Description
This is the artist proof edition of an untitled hunting scene by Douglas Adams. The print was issued in a limited, numbered edition of 300 and is signed by the artist in the bottom margin. Douglas Adams (1853-1920) was a London based landscape painter exhibiting at various galleries between 1880 and 1904, including the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists, the Grosvenor Gallery, and the New Gallery.
Adams specialized in Highland landscapes, often including sporting elements in his images. During the late 19th century, many of his paintings were exclusively published as limited editions, mainly by the well-known publisher Thomas McLean. Over his career, Adams executed about a dozen shooting scenes, including stalking images, and a number of angling, golfing, and hunting scenes. His prints were issued both in large photogravure format and as smaller sets of three.
This signed print, being one of only 300, was published by Thomas McLean and depicts a highlands hunting scene.
