Description
A Japanese Hibachi brazier table. Unsure of exact date but likely from the early 1900s based on research. Dark wood with three compartments on top and drawers on side for storage. Traditionally, a small charcoal fire was lit in the copper compartments and used for cooking, making tea and heating sake wine. Drawers for towels, tea leaves and dried seaweed were built with wooden pegs. The copper compartments have covers, two are wood, one is glass. One wood cover is missing it's pull as pictured. Five small drawers along front are functional and have pulls. Surface is white scraped up and with imperfections throughout as pictured. Measures 35.5" L x 22.5" D x 14" H. Very heavy. Cannot find any identifying information like brand, etc on it. A very cool, unique antique piece or could also make a unique (but very small and short) coffee table.
