Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso red amethyst Italian art glass guinea or quail bird sculpture. The piece is attributed to the Salviati company, with Alfredo Barbini the likely designer. The bird a red color which fades from the head, where it is brightest, down to the tail where it has a light amethyst purple color. Believe the term is Ombre, where a color fades into another. The bird also has jet black applied legs, and stands in a thick and heavy clear glass base. Underneath it has a red and silver "Made In Italy - Murano" label. Would make a great decorative piece on any coffee table, credenza or mantel. Mid-century era. Measures: 8 1/2" long x 7 3/4" tall x 4 1/2" wide.
