Description
The "RIVERWAE" sign is single-sided with a cream ground and bold black lettering, both beautifully weathered by the elements. Circa 1920s. The ground shows the wood grain through the surface paint. The majority of the original hanging hardware is intact, with four links of wrought iron chain on one side. The spelling of the word "Riverwae" is especially intriguing here, as we haven't found any references similar. It's possible this was a colloquial reference to the name of an actual river. Likely constructed from pine, this single-board sign boasts a sawtooth detail on each end.
