A beautiful and colorful 4 panel folding screen; Japanese hand painted on gold-leaf-like paper. This Byobu screen depicts spring flowers in a wheeled cart. Gouache and watercolor, artist signed on the lower left-hand corner. The panels all together measure 65.75" inches wide and are 36" inches tall. The outer panels are 16.75" wide, and the two interior panels are 16" inches wide. Artfully engraved brass hardware with dark age patina on a black laquered wood frame. The silk border has been touched up as well as the trim on the lower border. The paper on the back has tears. None of the tears has damaged the front of the screen. Very good to excellent condition considering it's age. minor age wear overall. See less
