A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAJOLICA VASE

Ca. 1880. Of baluster form with concave oval reserves to each side, finely decorated with a barnyard scene in richly colored and layered majolica glazes, depicting chickens and a rooster in a pastoral setting. Mounted with gilt-bronze scroll-form handles. Signed E. Nouviant in the glaze near the base. Underside with impressed "TL" mark attributed to Theodore Lefront, along with impressed numeral 4 and hand-painted numeral 2.
