Description
This beautiful painting, Rye Water, County Kildare depicts the beauty and simplicity of an Irish countryside and the people that live there. The artist is William Davis, best known for his views around Liverpool, Wales and Scotland. Davis chose a spot far-removed from the industry associated with the Rye Water and River Liffey around Leixlip. Human activity is suggested only by the whitewashed farm building glimpsed between the trees. Davis painted the picture on one of his return visits to Ireland, perhaps with his wife, who was from Co. Kildare. The original hangs in the National Gallery of Ireland. This is a print on canvas and mounted on wood and framed. It is in excellent vintage condition. The inside of the frame measures 20" x 14". The outside dimensions are 23" x 16.5".
