Description
Pair of large pewter Chinoiserie lamps with brass medallions, foo dog embellishments, and wooden bases. Likely made in the 1940's or 50's. No maker's mark visible, very similar in style to Marbro lamps of the time. These lamps are very large in scale and quite unique.
Approximate dimensions:
Height (from base to top of finial): 41.5"
Width (at base's widest point): 10"
Depth (at base's widest point): 10"
Length from base to level of switches: 23.5"
Length from switches to top of finial: 18.25"
Length of cords: approx. 5-6' long
Each lamp has double sockets. Wiring/plugs appear to be original (two prong/not polarized), though the lamps have different sockets and switches (indicating that at least those parts were replaced on one lamp).
*Please review photos and condition notes below carefully for a detailed view/description of the condition of these lamps.*
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Lamps are in good vintage condition, with signs of wear consistent with use and age. Minor dents and scratches, some variation in patina. One lamp is missing the finial. Please review photos carefully for a detailed look at their cosmetic condition.
Both lamps retain their original cords and (non-polarized) plugs. Both have double bulb sockets and two independent switches, though they do not match (one appears to have original brass sockets, the other has chrome sockets by Leviton). Both lamps have been tested and three of the sockets currently work. Given the age of the wiring, I cannot make any warranties about their continued operation. For safety reasons, rewiring is recommended.
