Description
Huge oil on canvas c. 1890 attributed to Jane Berry Judson(New York 1865-1935). Judson lived for years in the Rochester area and was a member of the art colony there. She also belonged to the Boston society of Arts and Crafts. She studied at the Pratt Institute in New York and was mainly known as a landscape and seascape artist. This painting was purchased in Auburn NY and it had come out of a Masonic lodge in Syracuse. It is in excellent condition and is signed "Judson " and dated in the lower right. The beautiful gilted frame is made of basswood and is original to the painting. It measures overall 60" high x49" wide.
