Internationally renown for his sensitive portrayals of nature, Carson Gladson (American, 20th c.) infuses the techniques of the European impressionists with a hint of the delicacy of a Chinese or Japanese silkscreen - as shown in this editioned lithograph. The artist's so-called "transparent collages" combine the elements of nature with a mix of computer graphics and traditional painting using vivid and pastel colors. His work is part of the permanent collections of several museums, including the Oakland Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Gladson's work is also in a number of private and corporate collections. In fact, this print hails from the JC Penny collection (label en verso stating "JC Penny Insurance Group").

This piece is signed and dated in pencil in the lower right and the edition number of 85/220 is written in the lower left.
